What a fun night of adventure! There was so much going on that I just roamed around trying to take it all in! What has been your favorite part so far? Our skit with the League of Really Really Good Guys? Singing? Games? Small Group? I think I could just go on and on. There is just so much fun stuff! I hope you will choose at least one thing to share with your family or friends. The camper above seemed to be having a BLAST!
So, what happened tonight…. Well, do your remember which superhero from LORRG saved the day? It was Lickety Split. He rescued passengers on a train. Unfortunately, Dr. Vonevilville, has at least a couple Stones of Rosetta. While our good guys are really, really good and have saved Mr. Fuzzy Bear and the passengers, I am starting to wonder if they will be able to stop our villain. What do you think?
Also on the superhero front, at the end of our night, our other SuperDuo flew in to save the day. (At least, that was the plan.) Today, we found a little old lady with her cat stuck in a tree. Were you surprised that one of our SuperDuo could leap a tall building in a single bound and that he was so strong that he knocked down tall buildings and a tree? I actually think he may have surprised himself! Unfortunately, the cat is still missing, but it looks like they are going to continue their rescue tomorrow.
Base Camp is so much fun that it could be easy to forget the real heroes of the Bible that we have begun talking about. Do you remember who we talked about yesterday? Yep, it was John the Baptist. We also found out that he was “Humble”. What about tonight? Tonight we talked about Stephen and learned a word that begins with ‘E’. The word is “Empowerment”. Mr. Dilly used an illustration about a bicycle and its chain to help us learn about empowerment. If you were in his class, share it with someone you know. Do you remember who empowered Stephen? Yes, it is the Holy Spirit. Both of our Bible Heroes were true servants of God. They chose to tell people about Jesus, and what is right and wrong no matter what the consequences. They REALLY trusted God. Have you ever told someone the truth even if it might get you in trouble? Doing the right thing isn’t always easy!
I think it is about time to close for the night, but below you will find some more photos of tonights’ fun. Dr. Vonevilville even joined in on game time. Do you think he played by the rules? Check in with our 6th and 7th graders to find out if he did!
Don’t forget to work on our memory verse for the week – 1 Corinthians 1:26-27 “For consider your calling brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, now many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.”
